Meet Maria! Studio Hudson Instructor Part of The Studio Hudson Team and Community.

Meet Maria!

Maria Sartori has been a Visual Art educator for over a decade. She received her BFA and M.Ed from Lesley College of Art and Design- Specializing in darkroom photography, painting and sculpture.

 

She is passionate about teaching and loves the wheel. You can find her making spooky mugs, or working on hand building sculptures in the studio. 

Meet Andrea! Studio Hudson Instructor Part of The Studio Hudson Team and Community.

Meet Andrea!

Andrea Akerib has been making pottery for over 30 years.  She took classes at the Umbrella Arts Center in Concord MA for many years until she was able to open her own home studio. She lives in Hudson MA and has a studio in her basement.

 

Andrea is a functional potter, making things that people can use in their daily life. Though she loves making mugs and bowls, she is always experimenting with new things and techniques.  Andrea is looking forward to teaching and sharing all she has learned over the years.

Meet Sandra! Studio Hudson Instructor Part of The Studio Hudson Team and Community.

Meet Sandra!

Sandra Pirie-St.Amour holds a BFA from Maine College of Art and an MAT from Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

 

A potter and painter, she creates functional ceramics inspired by nature, often adorned with animals and plants. Her work features visible carving marks, loose brushstrokes, and a balance of raw clay and glossy glazes.

 

Sandra works in both wheel-thrown and handbuilt forms, encouraging people to enjoy the beauty and individuality of handmade pottery in everyday life.

Meet Carly! Studio Hudson Instructor Part of The Studio Hudson Team and Community.

Meet Carly!

Carly Manfre is from Metuchen, New Jersey currently residing in Leominster MA. They recently wrapped up as an artist in residence at the Worcester Center for Crafts where they taught beginner wheel throwing classes this past year and progressed their throwing skills.

 

In 2024 they graduated with a BFA in ceramics and has a working background in all things ceramics. Carly’s main tool is the potter's wheel and works hard to throw large vase forms, functional pottery, and incorporates drawings and paintings of realistic people and familiar spaces as well as illustrations inspired by fabric and wallpaper.

 

Carly now has her own studio in their basement where they continue to create as much as possible in their free time. 

Meet Renee! Studio Hudson Instructor Part of The Studio Hudson Team and Community.

Meet Renée!

Renée grew up in Newton, MA and first discovered her passion for ceramics at age 14. Now at 27, she is shifting gears to help the studio while still creating her go-to bowls and mugs!  

Meet Ellie! Studio Hudson Instructor Part of The Studio Hudson Team and Community.

Meet Ellie!

Ellie Layton is from Central Massachusetts and currently lives in Leominster MA. She graduated with a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Hartford in 2024 with a minor in painting and art history and loves all things fine arts.

 

She uses ceramics as a medium for sculpture and as a 3D canvas for painting. Her art is deeply impacted by nature, specifically aquatic life and uses different hand building techniques to create colorful and vibrant fish and animals to be displayed as pieces in people’s homes and businesses.

 

She incorporates color theory and painting techniques to ceramic sculptures and uses each medium as an extension of the other. When on the wheel, she incorporates organic textures and forms and loves the idea of ceramics not just as functional pieces, but as decorative items to elevate spaces. 

Meet Jane! Studio Hudson Instructor Part of The Studio Hudson Team and Community.

Meet Jane!

Jane Parker is a Hudson-based potter with 28 years of experience. Her artistic style is whimsical and decorative, skillfully combining wheel-thrown forms with imaginative, hand-built alterations.

​

She is proficient in wheel throwing, hand building, and sculpting, and has a special passion for surface design, particularly sgraffito. After first becoming immersed in the craft in Hawaii, she returned to Hudson and has run her own independent studio for many years.

​

Jane is excited to join the Studio Hudson community, where she looks forward to sharing her extensive knowledge and helping others find their own creative voice in clay.
